Spring Nails | Arizona Inspired

Hello, lovesydaixies! It's been forever since I posted a proper blog post. By proper, I mean, a post where I actually made an effort into it. Anyway, spring is just around the corner so, the beautiful Elsy and I decided to make a collaboration to do spring stuff. I am doing nail-art (obviously) and Elsy did spring makeup tutorial which was catwalk inspired on her blog.  

This is just very quick and easy and you don't even need professional tools to do this nail-art.  Here's what you need:

• Toothpick/bobby pin/unused pen/ nail-art brush (optional)
• Base Coat
• Top Coat
• Pink Nail Polish
• Mint Green nail polish

Step 1: Start off by protecting your nails by applying a base coat. Here, I am using the Avon Gel Strength Base Coat.

Step 2: Let it dry and paint your nails with a mint green colour. Use 2 coats of this to make it opaque. Again, allow it to dry before proceeding to the next step. Here I used, MUA in the shade Pistachio: Ice cream but you can also use Barry M  Hi-Shine in the Shade 421 Sugar apple, or any other brands as long as it's mint green.

Step 3. Take a thick paper and dot a black nail polish on it. This will make it easier for you to create a twig and branches for the next step. Here, I used Barry M's  Matte Nail Paint in 341 Espresso.

Step 4. I think this is the fun part! Here, use the toothpick and lightly draw twig and branches on your nails. You can be creative here and you can draw as much twigs as you want to, just make sure you leave spaces for the flowers for the next step. 

Step 5. Dot a pink colour on the paper for petals. Here, I used Barry M Hi-shine in the Shade 422 Grapefruit. You can use toothpick, booby pin, nail art brush or used pen to dot the petals of the flower. These are the basic alternative dotting tools if you don't have one. If you want bigger dots, use the bobby pin and if you want smaller dots you can use the toothpick. 

Step 6. Create your petals by joining 5 dots together. You can make the petals big or small, depending on your taste. 

Step 7. Dot a small amount of black nail polish on the paper, again.

Step 8. Using a toothpick, create 'pollens' of the flower. You can either make a dot inside the flower or you can make 3 little strokes. I prefer the dots. 

Step 9. Lastly, seal your design using topcoat. For this specific nail-art, I used Topshop's Matte Mails topcoat. If you want you nails to be shiny, you can use the MUA Top clear coat or Barry M's Top Coat.
